Artificial Intelligence as a Resource for Assessing Motor Performance in Physical Education StudentsContenido principal del artículo
Introduction: The assessment of motor performance in schoolchildren is a fundamental process for child development; however, in routine practice, it relies on observational procedures with limitations in objectivity. Objective: To analyze artificial intelligence as a tool for assessing motor performance in schoolchildren in Physical Education. Method: A quantitative approach was adopted using a non-experimental, descriptive, cross-sectional, and correlational design. The sample consisted of 67 schoolchildren aged 6 to 7 years, who were assessed using the Test of Gross Motor Development, Third Edition (TGMD-3) and the MediaPipe Pose computer vision system. Results: The main findings showed a strong positive correlation between the two assessments (r = 0.84; p < 0.001), along with significant sex differences in locomotor skills, object control skills, and the total score on the standardized test. Conclusion: The findings indicate that artificial intelligence complemented conventional methods by providing objective information on movement.
